AT LAST LOST | FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

IS 'AT LAST LOST' A COMPETITION?

It's an event and a personal challenge, without prizes. The publication of the results and the live map geographical information is for recreational and safety purposes. We aren't responsible for any interpretation that our event is a race. However, we are aware and don't deny that the sporting spirit and the ability to overcome difficulties is linked to an event with these characteristics, which sparks enthusiasm among participants and within the community (including us).

WHAT does the participation fee INCLUDEs?

The value of the fee is €175. Includes GPS tracker and live map by 'Follow My Challenge', briefing session, bag storage in Aveiro, Adventure Manual and Road Book with route GPX, CAP, personal insurance and the (unknown) Check Points (CP)...

HOW MANY SPOTS ARE AVAILABLE?

There are 99 spots available. First-come, first-served approach. Already 50 riders pre registered and booked their spot.

I AM AN INTERNATIONAL RIDER. TIPS?

The two closest airports to Aveiro are in Lisbon and Porto. Aveiro is closer to Porto (1 hour by train) than Lisbon (2 hours by train). Don't need to dismount your bike in InterCity trains. In both cities we will help you to find a place to store safely your bike bag or to get a bicycle cardboard box close to your departure airport. Alternatively, you can also store it in Aveiro (close to the station).

HOW DOES THE REGISTRATION system WORK?

Registration opens on February 1st 8PM CET. A link to the registration form will be available on the main page of the event's website. After submission, you will receive in the following minutes or hours (maximum 24 hours later) an email with a link to the fee payment page (PayPal or bank card options available). The fee payment is the final step in order to complete the registration. You will receive a confirmation and welcome email from FinisTerra CC. Registration in the 'pair' category is done individually (each member of the duo must fill out the form individually). Then, you can  complete the registration/pay the fee for both (350€) or separately (175€ + 175€). Refund policy: 80% until end of July 30th and 90% (until a few days before the event) if the event is sold out and there is a new rider who replaces the spot.

What IS THE TIME LIMIT to complete my route?

The event will last for 7 days (max. time to complete your route). The last CP and arrival point will close at 23:59 on September 8th (Friday). The time limit for reaching the Check Points will be proportional to the total time limit. We will have a finishers party!

WHere will the finish point of the adventure be?

The 'At Last Lost' spirit will last until the finish, such as the end of an epic movie. You will only realize where the adventure ends when you reach the last CP. However, we can assure: there is accommodation avalaible not far away; it will be possible to get back to Aveiro without a significant effort (due to geographical proximity or availability of a train station). You won't also be informed about the number of CPs.

road or off-road bike?

The doubt is part of the 'game'. A road bike will allow you to go faster, but a gravel/mtb bike will allow you to use "shortcuts". Your route, your bike. We are expecting to see more road bikes at the departure line, but don't forget that an off-road bike will give you more route options and comfort. However, even if you ride some off-road tracks, tarmac will prevail during your journey.

Will computers with internet be available at the Check points to help with navigation and route planning?

Following self-supported approach, the riders must have their knowledge, own means or/and technology to insert the coordinates and plan their routes. Important note: in some CPs there is the possibility of riders don't have internet signal. 'At Last Lost' is a brand new type of adventure in the ultracycling and bikepacking scene. This type of adventure adds a new layer to the emotional challenge and navigation/route planning skills are crucial. This adventure starts long before the departure at the starting line. Get ready!

Which are the mandatory items?

Helmet, reflective vest (during the nights and poor visibility conditions), frontal and rear lights (including a backup kit), emergency blanket. The organization ensures personal insurance for accidents (expenses for treatment, repatriation, disability and death). Presence at the briefing session is mandatory for all participants (Friday evening September 1st in Aveiro).
